CAIRO – 3 November 2024: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has directed the provision of free medical services for uninsured civilian families of people injured or killed in terrorist attacks, who are supported by the nation’s martyrs honoring fund.

The president made the remarks during a meeting with Major General El-Sayed El-Ghaly, chairman of the fund to honor the martyrs as well as victims and missing persons in military, terrorist, and security operations and their families on Sunday.

Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy Sisi ordered coordination between the government and the fund to provide free treatment for those individuals, “emphasizing that the nation will never forget the sacrifices of its loyal sons.”

Sisi also emphasized Egypt’s commitment to providing proper recognition for the martyrs and the injured who have dedicated their lives to the nation and the people.

The president during the meeting checked the annual report on the fund’s activities, which includes its operational status and is prepared in coordination with all state entities.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance the services provided to individuals covered by the fund and develop its resources, while improving its management mechanisms to better respond to the beneficiaries' needs.

Sisi ordered continued comprehensive coordination among the relevant state entities to ensure the fund's objectives are met and to facilitate services for the beneficiaries.

The martyrs honoring fund was established in 2018 by a decree from Sisi, specializing in disbursing financial and in-kind compensation to the families of martyrs and victims of terrorism and security operations as well as their families.

The fund aims to honor these individuals, provide support and care for them in all fields, including social, health, and educational aspects, and to disburse the compensation due to them, according to article III of the law’s chapter II.
