CAIRO- 2 November 2024: Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad has announced the launch of the 2024 Climathon conference in Upper Egypt to raise awareness about climate change issues. 

 

The conference, themed “Climathon Upper Egypt – For Sustainable and Urban Cities”, took place in Qena governorate within the framework of the National Solid Waste Management Program/EU Green (NSWMP- EU Green) under the auspices of the Environment Ministry and the European Union in cooperation with the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ).

 

The event was attended by Qena governor Khaled Abdel Haleem, a host of officials of respective bodies, environment experts and technicians and 100 university students and graduates from Upper Egypt governorates. 

 

The conference is held under the directives of the minister to raise awareness among youth about climate change and environment issues.
