In a statement on Saturday, the center said it communicated with South Sinai Governorate, which refuted the news.

There are no plans to evacuate Saint Catherine’s Monastery in coincidence with the development of the area, it added.

The monastery is open and smoothly works as an important, historic and religious symbol, according to it.

Ongoing efforts are focused on developing Saint Catherine's area at large, it noted.

Such reports are meant to disrupt public order and trigger outrage, the statement said.

It urged all citizens not to be deceived by such reports and to immediately contact the center if they have any query.
