Egypt Offers Condolences to Spain Over Flooding Tragedy

CAIRO - 1 November 2024: Egypt extended heartfelt condolences to Spain, offering sympathies to the government and people affected by recent devastating floods. Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, expressed Egypt's support on X, stating, "The Arab Republic of Egypt extends its deepest condolences to the families of the flood victims in Spain." He added that Egypt stands in solidarity with Spain during this challenging time.

 

The floods in Spain resulted in numerous fatalities, with dozens of individuals still missing, and caused severe damage, particularly in the Valencia region and Castile-La Mancha. The Spanish government has declared a three-day national mourning period to honor the victims.

 

Spanish media reported that approximately 1,000 vehicles are awaiting removal from various roads in the Valencia area. Emergency teams continue their efforts to locate missing individuals and clear vehicles to restore traffic flow.
