CAIRO - 1 November 2024: More than 700 cyclists took part in a thrilling marathon in the heart of the bustling capital, Cairo, on Friday morning, with the participation of Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy and a group of 50 Arab and foreign ambassadors and members of the diplomatic community.
The marathon set off in front of the Cairo Governorate headquarters in Abdeen Square, weaving through the historic Khedivial Cairo district, navigating streets like Mohamed Farid, Talaat Harb, and Kasr El Nil, before reaching the iconic Tahrir Square and concluding at the serene Opera Al Horreya Garden.
This marathon is a highlight of Cairo Urban Week, a series of events leading up to the World Urban Forum 12 (WUF12) hosted by Cairo on November 4.
Governor of Cairo Ibrahim Saber also joined the marathon, accompanied by officials from both the ministry and the governorate besides 700 cyclists from youth centers and the General Federation of Youth.
