CAIRO - 30 October 2024: In its latest session, Egypt's Cabinet approved the legal status adjustments of 293 churches and affiliated buildings, following recommendations from the Main Committee under Article (8) of Law No. 80 of 2016, which governs the construction and restoration of churches. This decision was finalized in a meeting on October 21, 2024.

With this approval, the total number of churches and religious structures granted legal status since the committee’s establishment has reached 3,453.

This continuous effort aligns with Egypt's commitment to regulate and support religious institutions across the country, promoting religious inclusivity and legal clarity.
