CAIRO – 30 October 2024: Egypt's national carrier, EgyptAir, has announced the departure of its flights from airports nationwide based on the winter schedule with the conclusion of daylight saving time early on Friday.

The adjustment will take effect at midnight throughout Egypt on 1 November, marking the official end of daylight saving time and requiring the time to revert back by one hour to 11 PM on Thursday.

The airline advises its passengers to arrive at airport departure lounges well in advance of their flight times to allow ample time for completing travel procedures.

For any inquiries, EgyptAir customers can contact the EgyptAir call center at 1717 from any mobile phone within Egypt, dial the landline number 090070000, reach out to international numbers +97142306666, +966122297777, visit www.egyptair.com, or approach the nearest EGYPTAIR sales office or travel agent.

Note that the transportation schedule across Egypt, including railways and the metro, will also be adjusted. If you have a train ticket for Friday or booked one by midnight, remember to set your clock back by one hour to avoid missing your train.

DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS

As the clock strikes midnight on Friday, it is time to turn back time and grant Thursday an additional hour as daylight saving time bids farewell after being in effect since April.

In a move aimed at cutting down power usage, Egypt reintroduced daylight saving time in 2023 after a seven-year hiatus.

The idea behind daylight saving time is not just about tweaking clocks; it is also about reducing fuel imports, which weigh heavily on the Egyptian economy and foreign currency reserves.

As the clocks change, take a breather and catch up on your Zs to bridge the gap between your body clock (which follows the sun) and your social clock (dictated by society).

And while your clock winds back by an hour, do not forget that your work routine and appointments will likely stick to their usual schedule.

Do not fret about adjusting your laptop and mobile phone clocks; in most cases, they will update automatically.
