CAIRO – 28 October 2024: President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi met Monday Chairperson of the European People's Party Group (EPP) Manfred Weber, which is a centre-right political group of the European Parliament consisting of 40 parties from different European Union (EU) countries.
The meeting tackled reinforcing cooperation between Egypt and the EU in various fields capitalizing upon the strategic partnership agreement signed earlier this year. On his side, Weber shed light on the ramified and growing economic ties between the two sides, expressing eagerness for fulfilling the interests of both parties through Egypt's developmental efforts.
President Sisi and the EPP chairperson also discussed Middle East crises. On that front, Weber hailed the role played by Egypt to support regional stability and settle conflicts. In that context, the Egyptian president stressed the salience of concerting efforts among all international parties, including the EU, to push for pacification and ceasefire in Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
The chief of state also asserted the importance of ending violence in the West Bank, immediate delivery of humanitarian aid, and establishing a Palestinian state in alignment with related UNSC resolutions.
