CAIRO – 27 October 2024: Ambassador to Nigeria Mohamed Fouad met President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Omar Touray to discuss expanding cooperation between Egypt and the entity.

In that context, the African official commended the role played by Egypt in development in Africa.

The meeting also tackled threats in West Africa and Sahel, especially those pertinent to terrorist groups. On that front, Ambassador Fouad expressed Egypt's readiness to support ECOWAS' action plan on combating terrorism, and that is by training personnel taking part in that mission. That is in addition to confronting extremist ideologies.

The talks also tapped on the possibility that Egypt contributes to institutional capacity-building in the realm of trade exchange among ECOWAS countries, as well as enhancing agricultural production and water management.
