CAIRO – 26 October 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stated that the 6th of October 1973 victory came at a very high cost, paid for with the blood of Egyptians.

“Peace also came at a very high cost, with President Anwar Sadat giving his life for an idea that was ahead of its time and era,” Sisi said as he attended the Egyptian tribes and families union celebration to mark the 51st anniversary of the 6th of October 1973 victory anniversary on Saturday.

The celebration, attended by a massive number of Egyptians at the New Administrative Capital’s stadium, underscores Egyptians' pride in the heroes of the armed forces who succeeded in achieving the immortal victory.

The event also sought to emphasize support to the political leadership in all measures deemed necessary to preserve Egypt and its national security and send a message to the world about the unity and solidarity of all the Egyptian people.

During the celebration, the president stressed that the October victory was “an inspiring saga that never ends.”

“The victory achieved was not simple; it was a triumph driven by the will of a whole nation that refused defeat, challenged its circumstances, and faced the ultimate challenge itself.”

He added that the current events mirror the conditions we faced in Egypt after the events of the 1967 war.

Sisi said, while experts deemed the victory impossible, due to the Israeli Bar-Lev Line, the Suez Canal barrier, and the significant disadvantage in comparisons that pointed against Egypt’s success, the Egyptian people defied the odds.

“They persevered, challenged themselves, and emerged victorious,” he stated.

Sisi sent a message of reassurance to citizens that through hard work, determination, and follow-up, Egypt will overcome every challenge and achieve all that we aspire for, together.

The celebration hosted artistic performances that have filled the New Administrative Capital stadium with patriotic fervor and immense pride, commemorating the October 6 victory anniversary.
