CAIRO: 25 October 2024: French Foreign Ministry spokesperson Christophe Lemoine expressed his hope that Egyptian efforts to resume ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip would lead to reaching this agreement and releasing the hostages held in Gaza.

In media comments to the Egyptian state-owned  news agency MENA, Lemoine added that his country was always calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and the outcomes of Egyptian efforts regarding the resumption of the talks are welcomed.

Regarding the Paris-held international Conference on Supporting Lebanon, Lemoine said that there will be a follow-up mechanism for the outcomes of the conference, which was held on Thursday. He added the distribution of the financial aid ($800 million for humanitarian assistance and $200 million for security support) pledged by the conference participants to Lebanon will be monitored, in cooperation with the Lebanese authorities.

On Thursday, Egypt announced that its security delegation met separately with Hamas negotiation team- led by Khalil Al Hayah- and the Israeli delegation  from the Israeli Mossad and the Shin Bet to resume the talks on reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
