CAIRO - 24 October 2024: Dr. Naima Al-Qasir, an international expert in health and sustainable development, stressed the necessity of investing in human capital, through education, health, knowledge and benefiting from all the experiences gained throughout life.
In her statements to MENA Thursday, she noted that "the human element is the most important and valuable wealth that any country possesses, adding that studies have proven that healthy, educated and skilled citizens are more productive and innovative, and that they contribute more than others to the development and progress of their countries."
This came on the sidelines of the activities of the session "Human Capital and Population Health: Keys to Building a Resilient Society", within the activities of the second edition of the International Conference on Population, Health and Development, held from October 21 to 25, 2024. The conference is held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, under the slogan "Human Development for a Sustainable Future".
Al-Qasir pointed out that Egypt is one of the first countries to develop plans that give utmost importance to investing in building citizens by making investments to improve the health of citizens, their skill and cognitive behaviors, and their experiences. She explained that the "Decent Life" or "Haya Karima" initiative currently being implemented in Egypt is the "greatest example" of respecting people, developing their capabilities, and improving their standard of living.
She added that Haya Karima developmental presidential initiative provides an integrated package of services that include various aspects: health, social, and living, in cooperation between the state, civil society, and the private sector.
Al-Qasir explained that the link between education and economic growth is deep and multifaceted, and is the cornerstone of the development and prosperity of nations. Education, which is often welcomed as a basic human right, is also a very important economic investment that has the ability to shape the path of economic development. Through education, individuals acquire the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to participate effectively in the labor market, drive innovation, and contribute to the overall productivity of society.
