CAIRO - 24 October 2024: Assistant Minister of Health for Public Health Initiatives Dr. Mohamed Hassani revealed that the rates of early detection of breast cancer cases have increased, which has been reflected in reducing the prevalence of breast cancer and has had a positive impact on the treatment outcomes of women with breast cancer.

Hassani stressed that the strong will and interest of the political leadership in public health projects and placing the health of the Egyptian citizen as a priority were among the most important factors for the success of the initiatives.

He further highlighted the good preparation and the availability of primary care facilities spread across all governorates of the republic, and the presence of qualified centers and hospitals designated to receive cases, in addition to cooperation and partnership with the private sector, all of which were among the reasons for the success of the initiative.

The Ministry of Health and Population had directed a package of important tips to protect against breast cancer, which included:

- Self-examination of the breast and continuous follow-up.

- Consulting your doctor immediately if you feel anything abnormal.

- Limiting hormone therapy during menopause (combined hormone therapy may increase the risk of breast cancer, so you should consult your doctor to know the benefits and risks of hormone therapy).

- Maintaining a healthy weight and following a healthy diet.

- Exercising.

- Stop smoking and avoid drinking alcohol.
