CAIRO – 23 October 2024: Romania has expressed deep appreciation for Egypt's pivotal role in mediating the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Romanian Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu commended Egypt's diplomatic efforts in brokering a temporary ceasefire and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged territory.

 

In a recent interview, Odobescu highlighted the strong bilateral relationship between Romania and Egypt, emphasizing the growing cooperation in various sectors, including trade, energy, and education. She noted that Egypt's strategic location and deep understanding of the region make it a valuable partner in addressing regional challenges.

 

Both countries have been working closely to strengthen their strategic partnership, especially in light of the ongoing conflicts in the region. The EU-Egypt strategic partnership, which was recently upgraded, is seen as a cornerstone of bilateral relations.

 

Moreover, Romania has expressed admiration for Egypt's contributions to resolving complex regional issues, such as the conflicts in Libya, Syria, and the Horn of Africa. The Romanian Foreign Minister also praised Egypt's efforts in combating terrorism and irregular migration.

 

During her visit to Cairo, Odobescu held productive discussions with Egyptian officials on various areas of cooperation, including economic development, trade, and education. She expressed optimism about the future of the bilateral relationship and the potential for further collaboration.
