CAIRO – 23 October 2024: On the sidelines of BRICS Summit in Kazan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aty met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov to discuss updates of joint projects and economic cooperation in light of Egypt's recent membership in the group.

The two ministers also exchanged views on the conflicts in Gaza Strip and Lebanon, and their impact on the entire region. In that framework, Minister Abdel Aty presented Egypt's efforts on pacification, negotiations to reach a ceasefire, prisoner-hostage swap, and delivery of humanitarian aid. He also stressed the importance of a political settlement embodied in the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The Egyptian minister had held a visit to Moscow in September with the aim of exploring ways to advance bilateral cooperation, and exchange perspectives on various mutual interests. Hence, he met with Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov to discuss economic collaboration.
