CAIRO – 22 October 2024: On the sidelines of the 81st session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights, Ambassador to Dakar Khaled Aref met with Gambian ministers of health and water resources.
Ambassador Aref gave an overview of the leap achieved by Egypt in the pharmaceutical industry, affirming readiness for bilateral cooperation in the healthcare sector. He also stated that Egyptian pharmaceutical companies had plans to enter the Gambian market.
On his side, Minister Ahmadou Samateh showcased that Egyptian doctors had been guarded in a very high status by Gambians, and commended the quality of Egyptian drugs. Hence, he proposed conducting studies to establish a pharmaceutical factory in Gambia, pledging to provide facilitations to Egyptian firms.
Further, Minister Musa Drammeh also expressed interest in experience exchange in the fields of fishing and fisheries, which was welcomed by Ambassador Aref noting that Egypt is ready to support Gambia in all sectors.
