Egypt eyes more Asian investments: FM in meeting with ambassadors

CAIRO – 21 October 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aty met Monday with Asian ambassadors to Cairo expressing desire to build upon the current growth in relations between Egypt and many Asian countries.

The minister highlighted that trade exchange amounted to $35 billion per annum, noting that Egypt eyed investments in the sectors of agriculture, digitalization, artificial intelligence (AI), and electricity linkage. Hence, he asked the ambassadors to encourage investors to benefit from the incentives and opportunities offered by the government.

Minister Abdel Aty equally recommended transferring the embassies' headquarters to the New Administrative Capital displaying the city's capabilities, as well as the incentives and facilitations offered for embassies to move.

The meeting was also attended by Egyptian candidate to the UNESCO secretary-general position Khaled al-Anany, who presented his vision, ideas, and proposals pertaining to rearing, education, science, culture, communication and information.
