CAIR0 – 20 October 2024: The Arab League (AL) announced that Ahmed AL Secretary-General Aboul Gheit will visit Beirut for one day, on Monday, to hold talks with Lebanese leaders.

Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, stated that the purpose of Aboul Gheit's visit is to consult with Lebanese officials on addressing the ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon, which necessitates a minimum level of national consensus.

The visit also aims to facilitate discussions regarding the presidential vacancy, which has become a critical priority for completing the country’s constitutional leadership and enabling it to confront significant challenges.

Additionally, the Assistant Secretary-General noted that Aboul Gheit seeks to understand Lebanon's position on the humanitarian and relief situation for those displaced by the aggression, especially in light of the upcoming Paris meeting on the 24th of this month, to which the Arab League has been invited to participate.
