CAIRO- 19 October 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, on Saturday, a delegation from the US Congress from both the Republican and Democratic parties, headed by Representative Tom Cole, the Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.

 

In their meetings with President Sisi, the US congressional delegation members listen to the President’s vision on how to restore peace and security in the region and avoid the spillover of the conflict into a all-out regional war.

 

President Sisi said it is necessary to put an end to the war in Gaza and Lebanon, to move forward to reaching a ceasefire and a prisoner swap deal, and to immediately allow plenty of humanitarian aid enter Gaza. 

 

Regarding the  joint Egyptian-Qatari-American efforts over the past period, President Sisi said that the matter requires political will from all parties, and intensive pressure from the international community, to achieve tangible progress that allows for the restoration of security and paving the way for peace.

 

The members of the US Congress praised the solid strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, appreciating the role of Egypt and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in making continuous efforts to establish peace and stability. 

 

The delegation also affirmed the United States' support for Egypt and its keenness to continue consultation and joint coordination on various issues, in the interest of peace and security at the regional and international levels.
