Posting on his X account on Thursday, Abul Gheit said: "Yesterday, I met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and my friend Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in the first visit of an Arab League's secretary general to Turkey in a decade and a half."

The AL chief added that his visit to Turkey included opening the 15th Turkish-Arab Economic Forum in Istanbul, which is attended by a number of Arab finance ministers and the Turkish finance minister.

He emphasized that strengthening economic cooperation between Turkey and Arab nations is important and help achieve political convergence.
