CAIRO – 15 October 2024:In a time of escalating tensions in the region, including the Israeli aggression in Palestine and Lebanon and bloody wars in Sudan, Egypt stands out with a unique vision aimed at confronting challenges and promoting peace.
Political forces have highly praised Egypt's pivotal role under leadership of the President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in ensuring security and stability. With the region facing complex political and security issues, Egypt's efforts to boost regional cooperation have become crucial for maintaining peace and stability.
Nagi El-Shehabi, head of the Democratic Generation Party, highlighted that El-Sisi’s firm stance has contributed to shifting the global public opinion towards ending the Israeli aggression and establishing a sovereign Palestinian state. This development is key to achieving security and stability across the region.
El-Shehabi emphasized that the Cairo Peace Summit, which gathered numerous world leaders, presented a roadmap that influenced the Arab-Islamic Summit held in Saudi Arabia. Egypt’s refusal to accept the brutal extermination in Gaza and its call for humanitarian aid became a unified Arab position. He further noted Egypt's role in exposing the broader geopolitical agenda of the Israel-U.S.-Western alliance through public press conferences with European leaders from France, Germany, the UK, Italy, and Spain.
El-Shehabi also highlighted Egypt’s pivotal role in ensuring the entry of aid into Gaza and its linkage to the safe evacuation of foreign nationals, including Americans, through the Rafah crossing. He mentioned that Egyptian aid accounts for 85% of all global assistance provided to Gaza. He expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt's handling of the crisis, both locally and internationally, in warning against the involvement of other countries in the war.
Hazem El-Gendy, a member of the Egyptian Senate and the Supreme Committee of the Wafd Party, highlighted Egypt’s relentless efforts under El-Sisi leadership to strengthen ties with African countries. He noted that these efforts have restored Egypt's influence in the continent, which is crucial for its national security amidst regional conflicts.
Egypt has successfully positioned itself as a political, economic, and security partner in Africa, capitalizing on its historical and geographical ties while fostering deeper cooperation across multiple fields.
El-Gendy pointed out that Egypt has reinforced its military capabilities to become one of the top 10 armies globally. This strengthens its ability to secure borders and defend the Red Sea and the Suez Canal. Egypt has also focused on fostering stronger relations with Nile Basin countries, particularly in the Horn of Africa, to enhance stability, sovereignty, and development.
El-Gendy also praised the trilateral summit between Egypt, Somalia, and Eritrea, which emphasized Egypt's commitment to its African role. The summit addressed mutual challenges, particularly in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, and aimed to maximize opportunities for development across the continent.
Senator Hayat Khattab, another member of the Egyptian Senate, praised Egypt's diplomatic efforts to defend Palestinian rights and its clear opposition to any attempts to displace Palestinians. Egypt is actively engaging all stakeholders to prevent the expansion of regional conflict and achieve security and stability.
Khattab highlighted Egypt's unwavering stance on Palestinian reconciliation and the importance of unifying Palestinian visions to preserve the Palestinian state. She stressed Egypt’s longstanding position on supporting an independent Palestinian state and its opposition to attempts to divide Gaza and the West Bank, while also enhancing the role of the Palestinian Authority to fulfill the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
