AIRO – 15 October 2024: Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, announced that most of the injured students from Galala University involved in the Ain Sokhna road accident are in stable condition.
In an exclusive statement to Youm7, Dr. El-Tayeb confirmed that the total number of injured stands at 33, with 22 in stable condition. After undergoing the necessary medical examinations, they are under observation for 24 hours and are expected to be discharged soon. However, 8 cases remain in critical condition in intensive care, and 12 students have tragically passed away.
The Deputy Minister of Health added that following the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, officials were dispatched to the accident site immediately, and around-the-clock monitoring of the injured is being conducted. Hourly medical reports are provided regarding the general health status of the victims.
Following the accident involving medical students from Galala University on the Galala Road in Ain Sokhna, state agencies responded promptly. The ambulance service in Suez Governorate deployed 30 ambulances to transport and treat the injured students from Galala University.
Tragically, the death toll has reached 12. Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, directed that the necessary aid be provided to the victims' families. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, assigned his deputy to visit the Suez Medical Complex, while the Minister of Higher Education instructed university hospitals to provide the necessary care to the injured students.
Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Adel El-Adawy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Galala University, Dr. Mohamed El-Shenawy, University President, and the entire academic community of Galala University extended their deepest condolences to the families of the students who tragically lost their lives in the bus overturn after their school day.
