CAIRO – 14 October 2024: Egypt will cancel the pre-entry visa requirement for Canadian citizens traveling to Egypt, effective December 1, 2024, announced the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Monday.
Canadian travelers will have the option to obtain a visa upon arrival at Egyptian airports of entry, in addition to reactivating the electronic visa (E-VISA) application process, the statement added.
This change will take effect for all Canadian citizens arriving in Egypt from December 1, 2024, the statement continued.
This decision follows a recent meeting between Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, and Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly, held during the United Nations General Assembly session in New York.
In celebration of the seventieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Canada, both countries have agreed on the importance of facilitating mutual trade and tourism, as well as easing visa processes for their citizens.
The decision to cancel pre-entry visas reflects a shared commitment to enhancing cooperation and supporting the connection of Egyptian-Canadian citizens with their homeland.
This initiative aligns with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to prioritize the interests of Egyptian citizens abroad and address any obstacles they may face.
