CAIRO – 11 October 2024: Egypt strongly condemned the Israeli bombing of a school sheltering displaced Palestinians west of Deir al-Balah in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in numerous casualties. It also denounced the Israeli army's targeting of UNIFIL sites and equipment in southern Lebanon, leading to injuries to two UNIFIL soldiers, as well as the shooting at another UN site in Ras al-Naqoura and damage to vehicles and communications systems.

Egypt emphasized that the ongoing heinous crimes committed by the Israeli occupation army without international accountability for a year have emboldened its gross violations of international law and humanitarian standards. This situation reflects a blatant disregard for the international community and undermines the rules-based international system. The silence of international entities that profess to uphold human rights, justice, and humanitarian values in the face of these repeated violations reveals a troubling double standard.

Egypt called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, urging all parties to reduce escalation and ease tensions. It stresses the importance of the Israeli occupation army's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of UN personnel and property.
