EU supports Egypt's request to reach agreement to regulate water issue: EU Amb.

CAIRO - 10 October 2024: Christian Berger, the European Union Ambassador to Cairo, said Thursday that the EU supports Egypt in its request to conclude an agreement between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia to regulate the water issue. 

Berger added that the EU worked for a period as a mediator between these parties, but Ethiopia did not show cooperation in this mediation, which led to its suspension.

Berger further pointed out in the meeting organized by the Arab Affairs Committee of the Journalists Syndicate under the title "Egypt and the European Union from cooperation to strategic partnership" that the European Union is ready to provide any technical assistance that may be useful in this matter, given Europe's experience in this type of conflict and its involvement in similar conflicts.
