CAIRO - 10 October 2024: The Israeli occupation authorities announced Thursday, the confiscation of the land on which the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) is located in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem.
The Israeli occupation has transformed the site of the UNRWA into a colonial outpost comprising 1,440 housing units.
The Palestinian News Agency reported that this decision comes within the framework of escalating measures by Israel against the UNRWA, which include efforts to enact laws that remove the agency's legitimacy and criminalize its activities.
In addition to this, the move comes following the approval of the "Foreign Affairs and Security Committee" of the "Knesset" of a draft law aimed at severing relations between Israel and the UNRWA agency.
The headquarters of the "UNRWA" in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood is considered the main headquarters of the agency.
