CAIRO – 10 October 2024: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has extended congratulations to his Tunisian counterpart, President Kais Saied, on his recent presidential re-election, conveying best wishes for success in his official duties.

During a phone call with Saied on Wednesday, Sisi affirmed Egypt's eagerness to bolster bilateral cooperation with Tunisia across various sectors to advance the shared interests of both nations.

Sisi also highlighted Egypt’s commitment to maintaining close coordination with Tunisia to address the challenges confronting Arab national security.

Saied expressed profound gratitude for President Sisi's gesture, emphasizing the depth and resilience of the historical ties between their two nations. He commended the significant progress in bilateral relations across various fronts.

The Tunisian president underscored his country's determination to strengthen cooperation and coordination with Egypt, in line with the aspirations of both the Egyptian and Tunisian peoples.

Saied, who has held office as Tunisia’s President since October 2019, clinched a second five-year term in a landslide victory, garnering over 90 percent of the vote, as reported by the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) on Monday.

Businessman Ayachi Zammel secured the second position with slightly over 7 percent of the vote, while former lawmaker Zouhair Maghzaou garnered nearly 2 percent of the vote.
