CAIRO – 9 October 2024: The National Dialogue in Egypt is seen as a crucial democratic forum for exchanging ideas and discussing various perspectives. Politicians and members of parliament have praised its role in creating a healthy political environment and enhancing Egypt's commitment to human rights under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

They emphasized that the National Dialogue has addressed all issues transparently, with no red lines, making it a true platform for national discourse.

The National Dialogue has been acknowledged by many politicians as a genuine opportunity for developing political cadres. It is also recognized as a democratic space for the free exchange of ideas and opinions. This has enabled the development of consensual viewpoints among various political forces, experts, intellectuals, and media representatives.

In his statement, Ibrahim El-Masry, Deputy Chairman of the Defense and National Security Committee of the Egyptian Parliament, emphasized that the National Dialogue is one of the most significant steps taken by Egypt in recent times. It provides a platform for all political trends to express their opinions openly. This was particularly evident in the discussions about pre-trial detention and legal procedures, which showcased Egypt's democratic transformation.

El-Masry further noted that Egypt has made unprecedented progress in the area of human rights, particularly in terms of prison reform, rehabilitation centers, and the Ministry of Interior's human rights departments. He stated that with the addition of the National Dialogue, Egypt has risen to become one of the leading countries in implementing human rights standards, making it difficult for European or foreign countries to criticize Egypt's human rights record.

Essam Hilal, Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional and Legislative Committee in the Senate, stressed that the National Dialogue represents Egypt's determination to strengthen its human rights agenda. He explained that the dialogue provides practical recommendations that contribute to addressing urgent societal issues, showing Egypt's seriousness in creating positive change.

The dialogue's outcomes are directly submitted to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, highlighting the government's commitment to human rights and to addressing the concerns of its citizens.

Hilal further highlighted that the National Dialogue offers a significant space for civil society to actively participate in formulating policies aimed at improving the human rights situation in Egypt.

Mohamed Abou El-Ela, head of the Arab Nasserist Party, praised the National Dialogue for bringing different national forces closer together, ultimately helping to shape the new republic. He emphasized that the dialogue is a crucial tool for creating consensus on national issues, including human rights.

Abou El-Ela also noted that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has paid special attention to human rights. The National Dialogue’s discussions on pre-trial detention laws are an example of the president’s commitment to involving all political and social forces in legislative reforms, ensuring that the best solutions are implemented.

The Arab Nasserist Party leader concluded by stating that the National Dialogue is a powerful interactive platform that enables citizens and political forces to participate in decision-making. This open forum contributes to justice, societal stability, and the comprehensive development of Egypt, which is vital for building the new republic based on respect for human rights and the rule of law.
