CAIRO – 8 October 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized the importance of the Egyptian armed forces, referring to them as a rational force that has faced significant challenges during the events of 2011 and 2013. He expressed the nation's desire for peaceful coexistence and affirmed that there are no hidden agendas within the Egyptian military or government.

President Sisi highlighted that Egypt's foreign policy is characterized by balance, moderation, and a commitment to avoiding the exacerbation of conflicts.

The president attended a military inspection of the 6th Armored Division of the Second Field Army in Ismailia, where the proceedings began with the national anthem. He also watched a documentary titled "Army of Victory," which outlined the history and key battles of the Second Field Army since its establishment on December 7, 1967. The division was tasked with protecting Egypt's northeastern borders, with former Defense Minister Ahmed Ismail Ali being its first commander.

The Second Field Army participated in pivotal battles following the June 1967 war and played a crucial role in the 1973 conflict, including the successful breach of the Suez Canal and the dismantling of the Bar Lev Line. The documentary featured testimonials from Israeli commanders involved in the 1973 war, detailing the valor of the Second Field Army soldiers and how they faced defeat in their encounters.

The film also addressed the army's significant role in securing vital installations following the January 25 and June 30 revolutions and its ongoing fight against terrorism in the Sinai Peninsula.

The event showcased the development of the 6th Armored Division and highlighted its current military capabilities, including the advanced M1A1 tank, the amphibious M113 vehicle, and the self-propelled 155mm howitzer, along with sophisticated air defense missiles.

Additionally, military displays featured various weaponry, such as the Harpoon anti-ship missile and the Otomat missile, capable of being launched from frigates and submarines. The event also highlighted the advanced mine-clearing vehicle SLQ-48, capable of neutralizing mines to depths of 600 meters, and various torpedoes designed for destroying surface ships and submarines.

Among the showcased assets were the combat-ready "SDV" dolphin-class submersible used for transporting special forces units, the high-speed combat boat "USM A," which is utilized for deploying marine commandos, and the multi-role combat boat "Rafale 1200," known for its stealth and rapid deployment capabilities.

In the realm of air defense, the event presented the German-made "Saqr" system, one of the latest air defense systems globally, and the "Tor-M" system, a mobile anti-aircraft missile launcher designed for mid- and low-altitude threats.

President Sisi reaffirmed the importance of Egypt’s peace strategy, stating that the country has consistently chosen peace as a strategic option since the 1973 October War. He emphasized the visionary leadership that guided the nation to victory, despite the challenges posed by the disparity in military capabilities at that time.

He acknowledged the sacrifices made by the military and police in the fight against terrorism, particularly in light of the significant casualties and damage inflicted upon various infrastructures in recent conflicts. The president emphasized the importance of military readiness and the commitment to protect national sovereignty and promote peace.

In his address, President Sisi reiterated Egypt’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, highlighting the necessity of establishing a Palestinian state alongside Israel. He expressed that this stance is not only a national position but reflects the sentiments of the entire Arab region. He stated that achieving peace in the region hinges on recognizing and addressing the Palestinian issue.

In conclusion, President Sisi expressed his gratitude to the military leadership for their efforts and reiterated that the armed forces remain a vigilant protector of the nation. He concluded with a message of hope for overcoming the current regional challenges and achieving lasting peace and stability in Egypt and the broader region.
