CAIRO – 7 October 2024: The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that around 15,000 people in Gaza urgently need to be evacuated to receive necessary medical treatment. Dr. Margaret Harris, spokesperson for WHO, stated on Monday that there is no solution to the current crisis in the Middle East except through peace.

Harris emphasized that Gaza's healthcare system is heavily restricted but continues to operate thanks to the relentless efforts of humanitarian and healthcare workers, who persist despite the ongoing bombardment.

She highlighted the bleak situation for patients and the injured in Gaza, noting that their chances of recovery are extremely low due to the lack of medical resources and the constant violence.

In addition to the physical injuries, Harris pointed out the severe psychological trauma experienced by everyone in Gaza, caused by the continuous bombings and the immense grief over the loss of loved ones.
