CAIRO – 3 October 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has issued Decree 427/2024 granting pardon to a group of convicted individuals in honor of the 6th of October 1973 war anniversary.

The decree has been published in the official gazette.

Egypt is preparing to commemorate the 51st anniversary of its victory over Israel, a milestone that led to the liberation of Sinai from Israeli occupation.

The victory constituted a historic achievement realized under the leadership of the late President Anwar El-Sadat.

Egypt's Cabinet has declared the upcoming Sunday as a paid holiday for both public and private sector employees to observe this significant occasion.

Presidential pardons

Over the past decade, thousands of inmates have received presidential pardons during national and religious occasions, based on specific criteria.

Moreover, the Egyptian prosecution in recent years has released numerous pretrial detainees, while many convicts received presidential pardons following Sisi’s call for the National Dialogue and the reactivation of the Presidential Pardon Committee in 2022.

Since then, several political activistsjournalists, and other prominent individuals have been granted release through presidential pardons.
