CAIRO – 3 October 2024: The Houthi fighters have claimed responsibility for a series of drone strikes on Tel Aviv overnight, stating that the drones successfully targeted a "vital site" in the city of Jaffa.

In a recorded speech, Yahya Saree, the spokesperson for the Houthi fighters, stressed that the attack involved "a number of Yaffa drones" without specifying the exact number.

Saree emphasized that the operation was a success as the drones reached their targets without being intercepted.

He highlighted that the operation is a continuation of "standing up against the oppression of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples and in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese resistances."

Earlier, the Israeli army claimed to have shot down two drones over the sea off the coast of central Israel, while a third drone landed in an open area.

The attack triggered sirens in the central town of Bat Yam.

The Israeli army stated that the attack resulted in no damage or injuries and noted that it is investigating the incident.

Over the past year, Israel has persisted in its war in Gaza, killing over 41,600 Palestinians, despite international calls for immediate and lasting ceasefire.

Israeli forces have also killed more than 1,900 individuals and injured over 9,000 others in Lebanon in Israel-Hezbollah cross-border clashes since the beginning of the Gaza war, as per Lebanese government data.

The majority of the casualties took place within the last two weeks, coinciding with Israel's extensive airstrikes throughout Lebanon and the commencement of a ground offensive in the Arab country on Monday.

Israel also launched massive attacks on Houthi-linked targets over the past months and has pledged "painful" response to a recent Iranian missile attack, a step that can trigger a vast regional war.
