CAIRO – 30 September 2024: Egypt voiced its Egypt's concerns over the recent developments in Sudan, including the bombing of the residency of the UAE Ambassador in Khartoum, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Monday.

Egypt added that this is violation of the rules of international law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961, which provides protection and immunity to the headquarters of diplomatic missions.

While Egypt condemned this incident, it stressed the need to adhere to the provisions of international humanitarian law, provide protection for civilians, and ensure the safety of the headquarters of diplomatic missions.

The UAE Foreign Ministry accused the Sudanese Army of attacking- by a Sudanese army aircraft - the residence of the UAE Head of Mission in Khartoum, which caused significant damage to the building. The UAE has called on the army to take full responsibility for this cowardly act.

The UAE also submitted a letter to the League of Arab States, the African Union, and the United Nations regarding this assault by the Sudanese Armed Forces, as it constitutes a blatant violation of the inviolability of diplomatic premises.

However, the Sudanese Army denied the UAE accusations, saying that these "shameful and cowardly acts" are being carried out by the Rapid Support Forces.

Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has a civil war between the Sudanese Army and the para-military Rapid Support Forces. The conflict led to the displacement of millions of Sudanese people domestically and abroad to neighboring countries of Egypt, Chad, Ethiopia and other countries.
