CAIRO - 30 September 2024: Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Arab Republic of Egypt Parviz Mirzazadeh said that over the past 33 years, friendly and fraternal relations between Tajikistan and Egypt have expanded, during a ceremony held Sunday by the embassy on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Tajikistan.
President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, paid an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt on March 9-11, 2022.
"The visit of His Excellency the President Emomali Rahmon and the meeting with His Excellency the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah As-Sisi, reflect the desire of Dushanbe and Cairo to move forward towards raising their relations to the level of the aspirations of the Tajik and Egyptian peoples. Thanks to this visit, relations have developed significantly and entered a new stage of cooperation," stated Ambassador Parviz Mirzazadeh during the ceremony.
Ambassador Mirzazadeh further said that Egypt, as one of the main countries in the Middle East and the African continent, occupies an important place in the foreign policy of the Republic of Tajikistan. "Tajiks and Egyptians have many common values, such as ancient history and rich culture, as well as active participation and support for each other in international and regional issues," he added during his speech.
He further touched on common interests between both countries, including green energy and sustainable development, saying that Egypt has begun to implement the “Egyptian Integrated Strategy for Sustainable Energy until 2035”, which envisages the role of green and renewable energy by 37 percent. He also explained that Tajikistan also is one of the leading countries in the production of green energy, and according to the plan, it will become a fully “green country” by 2037.
Currently, the Republic of Tajikistan ranks eighth in the world in terms of hydropower and renewable energy resources. It also ranks sixth among the countries of the world in terms of the proportion of production and consumption of environmentally clean energy.
Ambassador Mirzazadeh further confirmed that the Republic of Tajikistan, as a member of the international community, will continue its policy of strengthening good relations with all countries and international organizations, respecting and observing democracy, human rights and other accepted international norms.
The ceremony included a live performance by Tajik singers, as well as booths showcasing beautiful hand-made items by Tajiks.
