CAIRO - 23 September 2023: Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar is set to hold a press conference Monday from Aswan Governorate regarding infections inside hospitals.
The conference is scheduled to witness the announcement of the results of the central laboratories analysis, and to reveal the truth of what is being circulated regarding disease cases in the southern Egypt city of Aswan.
The conference also announces a noticeable decrease in the number of infections, after reports that hospitals are almost empty.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced a couple of days ago that the number of hospitalized cases reached 200.
A government official told Extra News that there is a remarkable decline in the number of cases.
Hundreds of cases suffering from vomiting, diarrhea, and gastroenteritis have been reported in Upper Egypt’s Aswan over the past few days, pushing the authorities to be on alert in the city and send more medical teams to investigate cause of the spread of these symptoms.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Ministry of Health said that Minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar directed to send a medical team from the preventive medicine sector to Aswan to investigate the cause of this unknown disease.
