This came during a meeting he had with Abdoulaye Diop, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Mali, on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Abdelatty shed light on Egypt's comprehensive vision in dealing with the challenges facing the countries of the region and backing the efforts of national governments and state institutions, in a way that enables them to fulfill their responsibilities in maintaining security and achieving stability, extending control over all of their territories and confronting terrorist groups.
According to MENA's report, Minister Abdelatty offered his condolences to his Malian counterpart over a terrorist attack that took place on September 17 targeting a military training academy and part of Bamako airport, stressing Egypt’s solidarity with the Malian people and government and support for all efforts to combat terrorism and extremist ideology in the country.
The two ministers exchanged views on the latest developments in the Sahel region and West Africa, explored bilateral cooperation domains and agreed on stepping up coordination on issues of mutual concern at the regional and international levels.
Abdelatty expressed hope to hold an expanded round of political consultations between both countries and to promote cooperation in numerous spheres.
