CAIRO – 20 September 2024: Across Cairo and various regions in Egypt, there is a welcomed break from the heat on the horizon, especially with rain chances in the forecast for the northern areas.

Throughout the next week, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) predicts daytime temperatures in Cairo and the Nile Delta to hover between 32 and 34 degrees in the shade.

But remember, with the usual summer humidity, it might feel a tad warmer, about 2 degrees hotter than the thermometer shows.

Up on the northern coast where cities like Alexandria and Matrouh reside, the weather is looking pretty good, with temperatures even dropping below 30 degrees during the day, just nudging into the early 30s due to the humidity.

In South Sinai, home to the beautiful spots of Sharm El-Sheikh and Dahab, get ready for temperatures feeling like 37-38 degrees on most days.

Heading to southern Upper Egypt, where Luxor and Aswan bask in the sun, things are looking a bit more manageable compared to recent weeks, with temperatures feeling like 38-40 degrees kicking off from Monday.

In the northern areas of Upper Egypt, expect the feel-like temperature to stick around 36 degrees through the day.

The EMA is eyeing some light to moderate rain chances on Sunday and Monday for parts of the Nile Delta and the northern coast.

Check out the average apparent temperatures across Egypt next week, courtesy of the EMA:

Cairo and Lower Egypt – Highs: 33, Feels Like: 35

Beat the heat

Do your best to avoid heat stress -or even heatstroke- this week.

To beat the heat, make sure you stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty.

Avoid direct sun exposure between 10 AM and 4 PM, and seek shade whenever possible.

It is also time to channel your inner fashionista by opting for lightweight clothing that will not trap as much heat. White clothing is your summer savior!
