CAIRO – 13 September 2024: Egypt is set to cool off slightly this week, with temperatures dropping by 2-3 degrees in Cairo and other parts of the country, settling around the mid-30s mark in most areas.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) reports that while temperatures are easing, humidity levels are on the rise, making it feel a tad warmer than the thermometer suggests.

In Cairo, even though the mercury might read early 30s Celsius, it'll feel more like 34-36 degrees throughout the week thanks to humidity. On the North Coast, expect the feels-like temperatures to hover around 32-34.

In South Sinai, where Sharm El-Sheikh works its magic, the weather will keep things toasty, with it feeling like 37 to 39 degrees.

Heading to Upper Egypt, you will experience feels-like temperatures of 36-38 in the northern regions, while the southern parts, including toasty Aswan, will be sizzling at 39-42 degrees.

Beat the heat

Do your best to avoid heat stress -or even heatstroke- this week.

To beat the heat, make sure you stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty.

Avoid direct sun exposure between 10 AM and 4 PM, and seek shade whenever possible.

It is also time to channel your inner fashionista by opting for lightweight clothing that will not trap as much heat. White clothing is your summer savior!
