CAIRO – 12 September 2024: In the framework of the convention of the 13th session of the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Committee, the foreign ministers of both countries held Thursday a bilateral meeting followed by another that included ministers and senior officials.
Minister Badr Abdelatty expressed Egypt's keenness on consolidating collaboration with Kuwait, and support to the achievements of its Vision 2035 goals. He also underscored eagerness for concerting efforts to strengthen Gulf security, which is part of Egypt's national security, as well as the periodicity of holding political and economic consultations between the country and Kuwait.
The two ministers conferred over Israeli violations against Palestinians in Gaza Strip and the West Bank. There was congruence on the necessity of an immediate ceasefire, hostage-prisoner-swap deal, as well as full and unconditional delivery of humanitarian and medical aid.
The two sides equally shared concern about the Israeli escalation that is destabilizing the entire region, and expressed ultimate rejection to the displacement of Palestinians and to Israeli lies aimed at justifying military presence in Philadelphi Corridor.
There was also agreement that the only way to accomplish a permanent and comprehensive peace is by ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent sovereign Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967 having as capital Eastern Jerusalem.
The Egyptian and Kuwaiti ministers affirmed their countries' mutual support in the face of any threats to their national and water security, territorial integrity, and regional borders.
The talks also included the unity and safety of Lebanon; crises in Libya, Sudan, Yemen and Horn of Africa; navigation security in the Red Sea; and, water security of Egypt and Sudan.
The two sides agreed on holding the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Business Forum in the last quarter of 2024. In that context, Minister Abdelatty presented the features of the Egyptian economic programme as well as the investment incentives offered.
The minister added that Egypt looked forward to more Kuwaiti investments, and expressed appreciation to the Kuwaiti government for facilitating the measures of residence of Egyptian citizens on its lands.
Prior to the convention of the committee, three sub-committees convened on consular, labor and educational affairs.
The committee's meeting concluded by signing 10 MoUs and executive plans in the sectors of tourism, housing, mass communication, youth and sport, planning, development, competitiveness protection, industrial export development, environment protection, and diplomat training. Another outcome of the session is setting a vision on developing bilateral ties.
