CAIRO – 10 September 2024: Egyptian Minister of Labor, Mohamed Jabri, met with Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation of the United Arab Emirates, during the 10th BRICS Ministerial Meeting in Sochi, Russia.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, the meeting discussed strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in the field of labor, particularly regarding vocational training, job opportunities, and exchanging expertise on labor laws in both countries.
Jabri emphasized the efforts of the Egyptian Ministry of Labor in developing the vocational training system, in cooperation with private sector development partners. He also highlighted the ministry’s readiness to send skilled labor to the UAE labor market and to directly engage with UAE employers to meet their needs for skilled labor that aligns with the market's requirements.
The minister pointed out the role of the ministry’s "Pre-Departure Orientation Unit" in educating Egyptian youth seeking employment abroad about their rights and duties, as well as the nature of labor laws and systems in their destination countries, to ensure their stability and sustainability in their work.
For his part, the UAE Minister affirmed the depth and strength of the bilateral and historical relations between the two sisterly countries, stating that Egypt enjoys the respect and appreciation of the UAE government and people.
He expressed his aspiration to intensify future cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Labor in common areas, and highlighted the promising present and future of the UAE labor market, especially in the field of labor, investment, and its need for skilled labor. He also touched on the social security and insurance systems that expatriate workers benefit from.
At the end of the meeting, the UAE Minister invited Minister of Labor Mohamed Jabri to attend the World Government Summit, scheduled for February 2025, which includes a special track on the "labor market."
