CAIRO – 10 September 2024: The Information and Decision Support Center of the Cabinet has denied recent rumors circulating about a decision to remove any citizen who owns a landline or more than one type of mobile phone from subsidized goods cards.
In a statement, the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade confirmed that there is no truth to these rumors and that no such decision has been issued. The ministry emphasized that the beneficiaries of the subsidized goods program will continue to receive their allocations normally and regularly.
It clarified that the process of removing ineligible individuals from the program is based on specific and clearly defined criteria, and that owning a landline or multiple mobile phones is not a factor in determining eligibility.
The ministry urged citizens to avoid spreading such rumors and to rely on official sources for information.
