CAIRO – 9 September 2024:  Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration Badr Abdelatty received Hussein Awad, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Tahrir Palace, on Monday.

 

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, reported that during the meeting, Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's participation in the Geneva meetings, offering an evaluation of Egypt's efforts to address the crisis in Sudan.

 

He emphasized Egypt's unwavering support for Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

 

Both sides also reviewed the agenda items related to Sudan for the upcoming Arab League meeting on September 10.

 

The spokesman noted that Abdelatty was eager to hear Awad's assessment of international and regional efforts to resolve the crisis.

 

They also discussed various aspects of their bilateral relations. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's commitment to supporting Sudanese citizens residing in Egypt and ensuring their safe return to Sudan when conditions allow, which was gratefully acknowledged by the Sudanese Minister.

 

Awad underscored the strength of the bilateral relationship and expressed Sudan's gratitude for Egypt's humanitarian and relief efforts, as well as its role in facilitating a resolution to the ongoing crisis.
