CAIRO – 9 September 2024: Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen emphasized the importance of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's upcoming visit to Denmark, stating it comes at a highly critical time. He welcomed the visit and highlighted the strong relationship between Egypt and Denmark.

During a joint press conference with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration Badr Abdel Aty on Monday, Rasmussen noted that strong partnerships are essential for tackling both current and future challenges. He added that both Egypt and Denmark share this perspective.

The Danish Foreign Minister commended Egypt's ongoing mediation efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza, which he described as vital to preventing further escalation. He reaffirmed that the two-state solution is the only viable path to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and called for an urgent resolution.

Rasmussen also emphasized Denmark's significant concern for the situation in Gaza, noting that Denmark is one of the largest European donors of aid. He expressed his anticipation for his upcoming visit to the Egyptian city of Arish to assess the current conditions and stressed the importance of avoiding further deterioration of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
