CAIRO – 8 September 2024: Most parts across the nation are bracing for a sudden surge in temperatures across Egypt this week. Starting Tuesday, get ready to feel like it is almost 40 degrees in Cairo and beyond.

However, there is a silver lining – cloudy skies up north might just take the edge off the heat, including in Cairo, as per the Egyptian Meteorological Authority's daily forecast.

Daytime is going to be hot almost everywhere, with South Sinai and the south of Egypt cranking it up to extremely hot levels.

In Cairo, expect to feel like it is a toasty 38-39 degrees from Tuesday through Friday, while northern Egypt will be heating between 35 and 39 degrees.

Down south in South Sinai and Upper Egypt, it is going to be scorching, with those feel-like temperatures creeping into the lower 40s for most of the week.

Beat the heat

Do your best to avoid heat stress -or even heatstroke- this week.

To beat the heat, make sure you stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty.

Avoid direct sun exposure between 10 AM and 4 PM, and seek shade whenever possible.

It is also time to channel your inner fashionista by opting for lightweight clothing that will not trap as much heat. White clothing is your summer savior!
