CAIRO - 4 September 2024: Egypt is moving swiftly to establish an electronic platform dedicated to medical tourism, according to a recent announcement by Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar. The platform is designed to streamline the process of obtaining medical visas and attract international patients.
During a meeting of the technical secretariat of the Higher Committee for Medical Tourism, Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the importance of finalizing the platform and setting the necessary criteria for obtaining medical visas. He stressed that Egypt possesses the infrastructure and medical expertise to become a leading destination for medical tourism.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the electronic platform will provide a comprehensive service for medical tourists, from visa application to treatment completion. The platform will ensure that medical visas are processed within 72 hours.
The meeting also discussed strategies to promote medical tourism in Egypt and build trust among international patients. The ministry aims to provide a seamless and efficient experience for medical tourists, from the moment they apply for a visa to the completion of their treatment.
