On behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly participated in 2nd Dakar Financing Summit on Thursday
CAIRO - 4 September 2024: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has highlighted the pivotal role of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in strengthening Sino-African relations.
In an interview with Xinhua News Agency, Madbouly emphasized the forum's ability to drive cooperation between Africa and China, especially as the world faces new challenges.
"The FOCAC is not just an economic platform, but a forum for collective dialogue between Africa and China," Madbouly said. He noted that since its inception in 2000, the forum has significantly enhanced the bilateral relationship.
Looking ahead to the upcoming 2024 FOCAC summit, Madbouly expressed optimism about the future of Sino-African cooperation. He emphasized that the vast potential for collaboration, particularly in addressing Africa's current challenges, offers promising prospects for both sides.
Egypt, Madbouly said, has been a staunch supporter of the FOCAC and the Belt and Road Initiative. He pointed to the successful implementation of various joint projects, such as the China-Egypt Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone and the Central Business District in Egypt's new administrative capital.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the significance of Egypt's accession to the BRICS group, stating that it opens up new opportunities for cooperation among the member states.
On the issue of regional stability, Madbouly emphasized the alignment of Egypt and China's perspectives on the importance of maintaining peace and security in the Middle East. He reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause.
