CAIRO – 2 September 2024: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the heads of national media bodies, editors-in-chief, and boards of directors of both national and private newspapers in Egypt.
The meeting was attended by Karam Gabr, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation; Abdel Sadek El-Shorbagy, Chairman of the National Press Authority; and Diaa Rashwan, Chairman of the State Information Service.
Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, Spokesperson and Director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, reported that Abdelatty commended the Egyptian media's crucial role in raising public awareness, objectively presenting foreign policy issues of significant importance to Egypt, and clarifying Egypt’s stance on these issues, especially given the current escalating regional and international challenges.
Ambassador Abu Zeid further noted that during the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs outlined the key priorities of Egyptian foreign policy, Egypt's assessment of regional challenges and crises, its relations with international partners, and efforts to address the crises in the Gaza Strip and Sudan.
The minister also discussed efforts to improve consular services for citizens abroad and to enhance Egypt's economic, trade, and investment relations with its partners.
The meeting concluded with an open discussion, where the Minister of Foreign Affairs addressed questions from the media and journalists, explored various perspectives on Egyptian foreign policy priorities, and reviewed Egypt’s efforts to safeguard national security and strengthen relations with strategic partners.
