CAIRO – 1 September 2024: The Ministry of Social Solidarity announced Sunday that 904 homelessness cases had been handled in July and August, mainly in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Gharbia, Alexandria, and Qalyoubiyah.

 

Of those, 295 had no homes, 37 needed in-kind and financial assistance, 51 were transferred to hospitals, 74 children and adults were put in facilities, and 34 were reintegrated with their families.

 

The ministry noted that, since 2014, 33,000 had been saved either from the streets or from facilities where they were mistreated.
