CAIRO – 28 August 2024:Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population has announced that the nationwide "100 Days of Health" campaign has provided over 43 million free medical services in just 27 days. Launched on July 31, 2024, by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, the campaign aims to improve healthcare access across the country.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, revealed that as of August 27, 2024, the campaign had delivered 2,013,513 services. Breaking down the services, Abdel Ghaffar stated that the primary healthcare and family planning sector contributed 786,434 services, while the curative care sector provided 398,302 services.
Presidential initiatives for public health accounted for 139,545 services, preventive medicine for 100,766, and specialized medical centers for 92,862.
Other sectors contributing to the campaign's success include hospitals affiliated with the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes (44,377 services), the mental health initiative (107,979 services), and the General Authority for Health Insurance hospitals and clinics (234,949 services).
Additionally, the emergency services provided 5,650 services, specialized medical councils issued 12,510 treatment decisions at the state's expense, and 3,246 surgeries were conducted for patients on waiting lists.
To complement the medical services, the campaign has also conducted extensive health awareness and education activities, reaching over 70,000 citizens. Community outreach teams have been deployed to public areas, clubs, and malls to raise awareness and encourage people to take advantage of the services provided.
