CAIRO – 26 August 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expats Badr Abdelatty met Sunday with Chadian and Nigerian counterparts on the sidelines of TICAD in Tokyo.

Minister Abdelatty and Minister Abderaman Koulamallah said that they looked forward to the reactivation of the joint committee between Egypt and Chad as a means to bolster cooperation in the sectors of energy, infrastructure, constructions, electricity, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, education and agriculture.

They also exchanged views on the ongoing armed conflict in Sudan, given that both countries are neighboring states that received hundreds of thousands of the displaced. In that context, they stressed the salience of creating safe pathways for the delivery of humanitarian aid to all Sudanese territories, and securing aid workers.

That should be coupled with encouraging donor states and international organizations to provide more aid and push for a settlement to the crisis. In a related context, the two ministers also conferred over political and security conditions in Africa, agreeing on continuous consultation and coordination in the coming period.

As for his meeting with Nigerian counterpart Yusuf Tuggar, Minister Abdelatty discussed consolidating the peace and security structure in Africa, stressing Egypt's backing to stability and prosperity in African states, and their interests. Hence, they conferred over updates in Sahel and West Africa, particularly security challenges and their impact.
